A few months ago, I finally decided to inform my immediate supervisor that
I'd be quitting my job within the year. Just last month, I spent my last day in
the office trying to endorse all my pending transactions to my former coworker
who was to replace my post. I then bid my last goodbyes to my colleagues and
friends who had been with me for two solid years.
I didn't really get the chance to thank each and every one personally (well,
only the ones who have been to my very simple last-day celebration with my
closest friends in the office), so this might be the best channel for a
brief thank you.
To my former employer:
You have been one of the leading banks in the country for years now, also
being the first in its field. Thank you for providing me with all the learnings
and experiences one cannot really acquire elsewhere. I’ve met a lot of good people
through you. Thank you also for the uhmm… significant amount that you’ve paid
me for my two years of service. I hope for success on your continuous quest for
serving your clients.
To my former supervisor 1:
Thank you for hiring me, for believing that I had the capacity to be a part
of your team in serving the clients the best way that there is and that we
could.
To my former supervisor 2:
Thank you for choosing me among all the applicants back then. We’ve had a
rough road together as a tandem. I could recall the time of my panel interview
with you, and all the other account officers, and wished afterwards that you
wouldn’t be my boss. Hah. But you’ve taught me to be tough, pushed me to my
limits (because you know that I can and/or we really didn’t have any other
choice), and later on friendship was built. You may not be the best boss one
would wish to have, but you definitely are one of the most genuine person and
friend that I’ve known. I know that you’re going through a lot, lot of
struggles right now. I hope and pray that you be tough enough to endure all of
them. I also wish that you may already find “the one” the soonest. I will see
you soon!
To my former colleagues and co-marketing assistants:
I can’t thank you enough for all the support that you’ve provided me all
throughout my days with you. For all the laughter, the good times, the tears,
the blood and sweat, the secrets, green jokes, nonsensical things, the true
friendship, and all the things that really mattered, I will always treasure
them in my heart. You all have taught me well. I will always look forward to
meeting/seeing you all again soon.
It was a very difficult decision to make but it was worth it. Though I
didn't really have a concrete plan after (originally it was to venture into a
business which I hope would still push through!), I risked it with the help of
my best friend, my sister, and SO. Honestly, I'm too broke to even function.
Hah.
So what keeps me busy right now? I do the household chores, full-time mum to
my Chow and Aspin (Asong Pinoy), a step-mum to my sister's Persian cat, tag
along with my parents (usually my father), full-time sister daughter/sister, my
boyfriend’s go-to person, and just sleep most of the time. I'm not really
planning to stay like this forever (seriously, of course), I just needed a
breather from everything. I hope all goes well.
